Hawzah News Agency, the message of Ayatollah Amoli Larijani reads:
European foreign ministers these days speak of de-escalation and say the problem of the Strait of Hormuz has no military solution — and of course they do not hide their motive: one speaks of the effects of war on their countries' economies, another of the "very serious consequences for hydrocarbon prices."
Years of sanctions and economic pressure on the Iranian nation and on nations that refused to submit to Western colonial policies did not matter; the unjust war and the killing of the oppressed people of Iran did not matter; decades of occupation and massacre of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples did not matter; but as soon as life in these countries became slightly difficult, the voice of dialogue and peace-seeking grew loud.
These are the very double standards and hypocrisy of Western human rights — a morality rooted in self-interest that, whenever interest demands, commits crimes with utter ruthlessness and even turns crime into entertainment; just as it sank the Dena destroyer returning from an international drill with more than a hundred sailors aboard, and the US president said unabashedly: "We could have seized it and it would have served our purposes, but sinking it was more fun."
Our officials have always said they have no fear of fair and just negotiations, but a peace that arises from concern over fuel prices will change as prices change. De-escalation in the region will be achieved by standing firm against the oppression and bullying of Western countries and their regional backers; the criminal US-Zionist leaders and their European backers will not abandon oppression and crime except through the language of power.
